2.  The OT or CDRS will evaluate your skills and determine which type of hand controls will work best for your needs.  They will also train you on the equipment they are recommending.

3.  A.  Locate your local Mobility Dealer (Mobility Supercenter) to purchase hand controls and have them installed on your vehicle.

B.  Go to the local DMV, take the driving test using the hand controls and get it noted on your license that you drive using this modification.  You must have this noted on your license to drive using hand controls.

1.  Push Right Angle (most commonly used)

The brake is applied by pushing the operating handle towards the brake pedal.  The accelerator is activated by moving the operating handle towards the driver’s seat.  The brake and accelerator can be used separately or simultaneously.

2.  Push-Pull

The brake is applied by pushing down toward the floor and back for acceleration.

3.  Push Rock

This control enables the driver to apply the accelerator and brakes by hand.  When the upright handle is pushed forward the brakes are applied.  When the upright handle is rocked rearward toward the user the accelerator is applied.

Most scooters and electric wheelchairs  require a minivan, SUV, or larger sedan capable of carrying a heavier load. That’s all changed with the introduction of the Bruno Chariot. This will allow people who drive smaller vehicles to carry a scooter lift. This is a great value for people who want to be able to carry their scooter with them but still drive a smaller car.

All you need is a Class I or Class II hitch. When not in use it can be folded up so when a smaller car and the Bruno Chariot Lift are attached they can fit in a normal size garage. Scooters and Electric Wheelchairs can be driven on and off the easy fold platform from both sides and comes with a retractable tie-down securement system. Brake light and turn signals that connect to the vehicle wiring system are also included in the package.

This one button operation with and on/off key makes it simply to carry your Scooter, Powerchair or Manual wheelchair with you even if you have a small car.
